Renaissance Institute Announces 2024 Award Recipients

Renaissance Institute award winners

The Renaissance Institute relies upon the dedicated volunteerism of its members to ensure that the lifelong learning program remains relevant and inviting to its membership. RI honors outstanding volunteers annually with legacy awards that include free membership benefits. This year鈥檚 award ceremony attracted 85 members for a lunch to both celebrate the winners and bid farewell to the institute's retiring director, Shirley Bigley LaMotte.

The Reidy Award winner was presented to Carol Daddazio for working tirelessly, and what might appear thanklessly, behind the scenes to support the programs and activities of Renaissance. Carol is the 2024 Renaissance Unsung Hero. She is a newly elected member of the Council, serves on the curriculum committee, provides technical support to Zoom instructors and is co-chair of the Renaissance Institute Legacy Lectures Series.

The Father Joseph Connolly Award recognizes leadership, outstanding and long service, generosity of spirit, and active participation in the Renaissance Institute. John Meredith, a former RI president and musical impresario, was honored for his stewardship of Renaissance鈥檚 many music programs. Also honored was RI council member and membership committee chair, Joe Lapicki. Joe stepped in to chair the RI Finance Committee when the position was unexpectedly vacated.

Two RI members also stepped up and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to assist with office operations. Showing amazing commitment, Vickie Lapicki and Joyce Dennison each received the Director鈥檚 Award for their extraordinary support of the Renaissance Institute, its staff, and its members.
